In addition to our recent portfolio companies we have been founders, investors or board members of successful internet companies like MyToys.de (biggest toy e-retailer in Germany and operating throughout Europe), getgo.de (online ticket sales) or vicinity.com (mapping services, now: maps.bing.com).
We are based in Berlin Mitte where we share a loft office with several of our portfolio companies. We foster a company culture that is based on trust, short-decision making and an open and fair partnership.
Our core competencies include: marketing, SEO, usability, growth management and financing.
We continually look out for new ideas and partners for building up profitable and innovative internet business models.
If you are interested in partnering with us, there are two basic ways:
1. Joint Venture
We start a venture together, you being responsible for the operational management of the company. ECONA helps as an active partner by providing entrepreneurial experience, infrastructure, a vivid network and access to expert knowledge and technology. We believe that one of the most important success factors is avoiding mistakes. Thus, by offering a perfect environment right from the start we set the course for a fast growing and successful company.
In most cases ECONA prefers to be the majority shareholder from the beginning. In return, we provide the company´s complete capital requirements during all subsequent rounds of financing until break-even – without asking for any additional equity.
This “lean & easy” financing ensures that you will keep a bigger share of your company in the long run. That leaves you better off than other company founders who hold significantly smaller stakes after several rounds of classical VC financing. At the same time, according to our experience, you save those 30-40% of your time, which you would otherwise spend on searching for investors and managing deal transactions. With ECONA as your partner you can invest your time and energy in the growth of your business instead of in the administration of several rounds of financing.
2. Venture Capital
Alternatively ECONA also invests in start-ups as an “institutional angel” investor and provides your company with seed capital. Of course you will also have access to the knowledge and experience of the ECONA Network, especially in the fields of business strategy, management skills, marketing, SEO, legal issues and financing.
